What causes anxiety in dogs?
Anxiety in dogs can be triggered by a number of things, with one of the most common being loud noises. Many dog owners dread the holiday season because of their dog’s fear of fireworks. Storms associated with loud thunder or rain on the roof are also a very common trigger of dog anxiety, as are car travel or separation from their owners.
What are the symptoms of anxiety in dogs?
Dogs can express anxiety in many ways. Common symptoms are trembling, panting, whining, or barking. Many become restless and they will often pace. Some dogs become destructive and paw the door, windowsill, or floor while outside dogs may escape by digging under or jumping over the fence.
Some seek the comfort of their owners, while others will try to hide in confined areas.
Regardless of the symptoms, anxiety is miserable for both dogs and their owners and the results can be dangerous. Dogs that escape may get hit by a car. And inside dogs can injure nails and paws by clawing incessantly. Many rescue groups cite destruction caused by anxiety a major factor of dog surrenders.
How can our Snuggle Buddy Robe help?
When we designed our first Snuggle Buddy dog robe, we had no idea about the reaction we would get from so many of our customers. Within weeks of the first orders going out we began to receive feedback about the calming effect people noticed it had on their dogs. Fast forward 4 years later and it is still one of our most loved styles. With over 1,000 five-star reviews and too many comments to count!
The Snuggle Buddy calming dog robe has wide straps that secure around your dog’s belly which are tightly secured by Velcro.
Once secured the straps distribute pressure over the back and sides of the dog’s chest, serving as a calming “hug.” This works like swaddling a baby or hugging a person in distress. Gentle pressure releases chemicals called endorphins that promote a sense of well-being, which is why stroking a dog firmly and slowly calms him down while a quick pat on the head gets him more excited.
